Five Design Trends to Look for in 2021

Dec 30, 2020 | Bathroom, Construction, House, Premier Countertop Installation and Fabrication

Throughout 2020, many of us have adjusted to a new normal of staying at home and working from home. And not so-surprisingly, home improvement projects have risen to the forefront of to-do lists since we are spending more time indoors. According to design experts, hygiene and cleanliness will be top priorities for kitchen designs in 2021, while flexibility for multiple tasks and users is also crucial.

If you are looking to make your kitchen or bathroom more efficient and visually appealing in the new year, consider incorporating some of these emerging design trends into your home.

WARM COLORS

While white is considered the leading color choice for kitchens, and grays are popular interior wall color choices, there may be a new, warmer contender in 2021. PPG Paints recently released its 2021 color palette of the year, and beige is making a comeback. The PPG Paints color palette includes a warm beige and accent shades of aqua and orange. The collection seeks to emphasize feelings of comfort, simplicity and compassion — and that is something we could all use a little more of in the new year!

QUARTZ COUNTERTOPS

According to the 2021 National Kitchen and Bath Association trend report, light-colored quartz countertops will continue to be a driving material for kitchen countertops and bathroom vanities next year. Quartz is durable, low-maintenance, stain and scratch-resistant and easily cleaned. It is a non-porous material and does not require sealing. Additionally, it is lighter in weight and can be used in more challenging applications. One of our favorite light-colored quartz countertops is Romano White. This slab is unlike most quartz because of the intricate pattern throughout it. To learn more about Romano White, check out our Slab of the Week video on Facebook, here

RUSTIC CERAMIC TILE

Handcrafted, colorful, rustic ceramic tile is growing in popularity for kitchen designs and will strongly compete with glass subway tile and smooth porcelain tile in 2021. Ceramic tile can be used to create backsplashes or cover entire walls. But if the tile is handcrafted, ceramic tile can be costly. If you want to cut costs, consider using individual pieces as accents in your space instead.

TOUCHLESS FAUCETS

Touchless faucets are a modern way to add ease, convenience and additional hygienic measures to your space. The 2021 National Kitchen and Bath Association trend report states that motion-control faucets, hands-free faucets and touch-tap faucets will be more popular than traditional faucets throughout next year. Voice-activated faucets were also mentioned in the report.

If you are unsure of what color or finish to choose, matte or brushed finishes are excellent choices. And if you are incorporating warmer colors in your space, consider going with a matte black faucet to help create an elegant feel.

VENETIAN MARBLE

Venetian Marble shower surrounds are popular choices for bathroom design projects and will continue to be in 2021. They provide a “wow-factor” that helps your bathroom to feel and look luxurious! This material is lightweight and durable, and it can be installed over any material, though the preferred methods are drywall and plywood. Venetian Marble comes in 12 striking color options that can be matched to the color scheme and overall design of your space.
