Mike Spiroff: Finding Countertops for a Home You’re Selling

Jul 15, 2020 | House, Premier Countertop Installation and Fabrication

Regardless if you are remodeling your home, designing a new one or planning on flipping the house, you will want to get countertops that suit the needs of the home.

A Bad Lizard client, Mike Spiroff, purchased a home in Westover, located in Morgantown, West Virginia, and planned to remodel and update the house to sell. Continue reading to learn how our crew at Bad Lizard was able to help Mike through his countertop journey from beginning to end.

THE COUNTERTOP PROJECT

When Mike came to our team, he let us know that he needed countertops for the kitchen and the bar, which was located downstairs. He knew that he wanted something he and his wife would love.

“My wife and I are going to flip this house,” Mike said. “It’s a project for us to fix it up and flip it.”

As a part of our countertop journey, our team sat down with Mike and talked about:

  • The goals of the kitchen and bar area
  • Main priorities of each area
  • The color scheme, design and hardware for the kitchen and bar area
  • The timeline of the project

When we talk about the items listed above, this conversation will give our team a good idea of what type of material would suit the home. Still, this conversation is often the first time a homeowner/builder starts thinking about the purpose of the countertop.

A countertop is more than just an area to cook at; it’s a gathering center for families and friends. That is why we take our conversations so seriously with our clients. We know that your countertop decision is a big one and the countertop you ultimately chose must be one that you love.

“This was our first time working with Bad Lizard, but I’ve referred them before, and I know they do great work,” said Mike.

After our conversation with Mike about the projects’ overall goals, we were able to walk around our indoor showroom and show Mike our slabs that we thought could work in each area of the house.

At Bad Lizard, we provide granite, quartz, marble and soapstone countertop options for your ideal project. You can click here to learn the pros and cons of each of these countertop materials.

Based on our initial planning conversation, Mike chose a Carrara Mist countertop and a Travajo Stainless Steel Bowl Sink for the kitchen. For the downstairs bar, he decided on the Brazilian Black countertop.

After choosing the perfect countertop material for you, our team gets to work. We arrive at the location where the countertop will be installed to measure the homeowner’s current space. This way, we can cut the countertops to the perfect size. Taking measurements and having our team do the install, ensures proper placement and no mistakes.

We don’t want you to worry about the mess – once we are all done installing your brand new countertops, we will do a thorough cleaning of your cabinets, appliances, and flooring. Our goal is that every single customer remembers each of our employees as a respectful professional.

“Bad Lizard was easy to work with, and the results were great,” said Mike.
