Oct 6, 2021 | Bathroom, Construction, House, Premier Countertop Installation and Fabrication

Have you heard about our carry-out method? This option makes it easy for handymen and women to create their own pieces or add special touches to their homes using our remnants. However, most carry-out projects mean a little do-it-yourself work. Read on to find some inspiration for your next DIY project!

WHAT IS A CARRY-OUT PROJECT AT BAD LIZARD?

The carry-out process at Bad Lizard is a simple and convenient option for any small project where you wish to add granite, quartz or marble to enhance your home, as long as you can install the piece yourself. To get started, give us a call at 304-GRANITE, and we will discuss some rough measurements and your desired color palette. After that, we will email you pricing options and pictures of the remnants we have available that work with your color palette and sizing.

If you wish to move forward with your carry-out project, we will schedule an appointment, so you can come down and view the remnant itself. Then, to complete the transaction, you place a deposit, and once the dimensions for your project are verified and finalized on a drawing layout, you sign off on the project.

Once your carry-out project is complete (generally within two weeks), our team contacts you and schedules you an appointment to come and pick it up. After you inspect and pay for your order, the slab is loaded into your vehicle. You can then take your remnant home to install it yourself. MAKE A PLAN

A DIY project can range from a simple task to a complex renovation, so it’s essential to make a plan before you begin. Planning ahead for your project will help to prevent delays in the future. Of course, there still may be surprises along the way, but you can be better prepared for them if you take the time to plan.

We recommend developing a renovation plan that outlines your goals, needs and wants for the project. This plan will help you make clear decisions during the planning phase. A renovation plan can also help keep your budget on track. To learn more about renovations, read our blog, Five Tips for a Smooth Renovation.

CARRY-OUT DIY PROJECT IDEAS

Our Bad Lizard countertop specialists recommend using our carry-out remnants for smaller projects like:

  • Bathroom countertops
  • Hearths
  • Mantles
  • Window sills
  • Tabletops
  • Laundry/Mudroom countertops

Remnants are perfect for any small project where you are looking to add granite, quartz or marble to enhance your home’s interior or exterior look.

Bathroom Countertops

A DIY bathroom renovation can sometimes be daunting, but it is a perfect opportunity to put some of your DIY skills to the test if you are comfortable with what you are doing. You can start with the basics, like modernizing the vanity and countertops, especially if you are uncomfortable updating plumbing and electrical work.

A great DIY opportunity for bathroom countertops is to install the carry-out remnant of your choice yourself. This is an excellent option for anyone looking for high-class, top-of-the-line countertops but wants to put in some do-it-yourself work, save money and is capable of installing the countertop on their own.

Hearths

If your fireplace is starting to look drab, try sprucing it up with a carry-out remnant. Updating your fireplace with a stone’s unique colors and textures will give it a much-needed “wow factor.” Furthermore, choosing a heat-resistant stone, such as granite, is crucial for fireplaces; this means you won’t have to worry about damage from moderate temperatures.

Laundry/Mudroom

If you have not thought about using remnant countertops in your laundry room, you should! Granite remnants would be a perfect fit for upgrading your laundry room or mudroom because not only is it beautiful, but it is also scratch and stain-resistant, so it can hold up to the wear and tear often received in this space. However, if this seems too daunting, try creating something smaller, such as revamping your great-grandmother’s old table or creating a simple plant stand!

Numerous Outdoor Options

When creating an outdoor DIY project, it’s essential to use a durable stone. Granite and soapstone are both great options. If you like to entertain, a DIY outdoor space may be the perfect project for you. While concrete is used traditionally for outdoor countertops and islands, we say why not try granite or soapstone, as they are more stylish in appearance! Some perfect DIY projects for the outdoor entertainer would be an elegant table, a grill surround to make grilling more manageable, a small outdoor countertop, garden benches and more!
