WHAT ARE VENETIAN MARBLE SHOWER SURROUNDS?
Venetian Marble shower surrounds provide the “wow-factor” that will allow your bathroom to feel and look luxurious. These shower panels are engineered and manufactured equivalently to a Quartz countertop process, except this material’s primary genetic makeup is chipped marble. As a result, Venetian Marble is lightweight and durable and can be installed over any material — but the preferred methods are drywall or plywood.
Venetian Marble comes in 12 striking color options that we can match to your space’s color scheme and overall design. These colors include Lhasa, Coco Emperador, Vanilla Sky, Melange, Polar White, Swiss Blanco, Tibetan Beige, Bisque, Milano Beige, Blanco Perlato, Iridium Gray and Champagne Limestone. HOW IS IT INSTALLED?
Venetian Marble shower surrounds are much faster to install than your typical custom tile and grout. These showers have a clean, modern look and feel, but surprisingly, as the Co-Owner of Bad Lizard, Trevor Flanagan, shared, “A lot of people do not even know this product exists.”
The functional objective of any shower or water application is to make sure water cannot squeeze through cracks and get behind anything. So before your shower walls go up, our team takes metal and bends it into each corner that connects to the shower or tub basin. The shower walls then inlay inside the bent channel. Since the metal channel goes down into the shower panel on the inside, it ensures that no water damage will occur if the caulking ever breaks down over time.
“The beauty of Venetian Marble is that the product is fail-proof, water-proof and crack-proof,” said Trevor.
In addition, the Venetian Marble option is almost nearly half the cost of a custom tile and grout installation, and you will not have to worry about pieces of tile falling off over time or resealing your tile down the road.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS LIKE FROM START TO FINISH?
“Our house was built in the 1950s and has a vintage style about it. Our Master Bathroom has been functioning ever since we moved in, but we just wanted to expand it and update it a little,” said Bad Lizard Venetian Marble customer, Meredith Rodgers.
The process starts when the customer visits our storefront located in Bridgeport, West Virginia. Once they visit, we will set up a meeting to show them Venetian Marble samples. The best part of visiting our facility is that we have a complete, functioning shower made from Venetian Marble that can be viewed in person.
“When I went to Bad Lizard, they showed us the demo bathroom that they have there at the shop. They were describing to me how they could do shelves or benches [for our shower],” said Meredith.
At Bad Lizard, we have several accessories that compliment the shower. We offer numerous options, including bench seats, niches and 3/8-inch thick glass shower doors and varying hardware finishes. We also provide risers and curbs. The benefits of the riser and curb make the shower clean, so there is no scrubbing, mildew or mold to worry about. We can install the riser and curb on a shower pan or a custom, tiled floor.
Once the color and material have been chosen, we then complete a site visit to determine the material needed to fabricate the shower stall. Then, our template team will visit to take measurements of the shower and ensure the unit will fit properly. The template is then applied to our state-of-the-art CNC machine, which cuts the Venetian Marble to the correct dimensions. We then return to your home with the material and install it that same day.
“What a lot of our customers want when they are buying this product, and they are dealing with us, is a nice, custom shower,” said Johnnie Rominger, Co-Owner of Bad Lizard.
HOW LONG DOES THE VENETIAN MARBLE INSTALLATION TAKE?
The installation process for our Venetian Marble shower is a breeze. After you or your contractor install the shower pan or tub, the Bad Lizard Granite & Quartz team takes over from there.
Our expert staff installs the Venetian Marble sheets against the wall. Then, once you have time, have your plumber finish, and you can enjoy your new shower. It’s that simple! The templating takes one day, and the installation can be completed in one day as well.
“I was surprised because I didn’t think this process would happen so quickly,” said Meredith. “It was so efficient to have Bad Lizard come in and install everything in one day. By the next morning, we could use our shower!”
CLEANING IS A BREEZE
With Venetian Marble, you do not have to worry about complicated maintenance. It is effortless to care for and maintain. You don’t have to worry about getting tough grout lines cleaned.
“The maintenance of the shower is so nice. I’m not going to have to worry about mold; I don’t have to scrub tile; all I do is spray it down and squeegee it off and go about my day,” said Meredith.
