Where it all started.
Johnnie H. Rominger and Trevor J. Flanagan go all the way back to kindergarten. What started as a friendship built on block towers and backyard forts turned into a business built on craftsmanship, quality, and a no-compromise attitude.
As they entered the construction industry, the materials got heavier, the designs got sharper, and the expectations? Much higher. Not just for their own work, but for anyone they brought onto the job, especially subcontractors.
When it came to stone countertops, they kept running into the same problem. What was available here in West Virginia didn’t meet their standards in quality and professionalism. So they did what builders do best—they built it themselves.
In 2013, Johnnie and Trevor founded Bad Lizard Granite & Quartz in Clarksburg, W.Va., with a mission to give the client the utmost quality craftsmanship while displaying professionalism in each interaction and providing the largest selection of stone slabs in the area.
More than a decade later, what started as two friends with a big idea has become West Virginia’s go-to destination for granite and quartz—proof that high standards, hard work, and a little grit can build something truly unforgettable.

Trevor J. Flanagan
Co-Owner & Construction Manager
Years Worked at Bad Lizard: I helped start Bad Lizard and have worked here for 13 years.
Years of Industry Experience 28 years of experience in general construction and the stone industry.
About Me: I graduated from Fairmont State College with a Marketing/Management Bachelor’s degree. I then served for six years in the U.S. Army Reserves as a heavy equipment operator. I have built, remodeled and flipped homes for over 20 years. In my spare time, I enjoy working on a project home to lease or flip. I also operate several residential and commercial properties as a leasing company.
Favorite Thing About My Job: My favorite thing about my job is that I enjoy coming to work with our team who is more like my family. Everyone works well together here. It’s also satisfying to see the kitchens transform from before Bad Lizard to after.

About Me: I've been married to Dr. J for 19 years (Jaclyn E Rominger), and we have one English cream miniature dachshund: Krieg, 1 year old.
We love packing up and getting away, even if it's just for a weekend. We also love spending time on our boat with our dogs and visiting with our summer boating friends. My hobbies include competing in shotgun shooting competitions, waterfowl, and upland game hunting, and being a foodie (we love all restaurants and especially trying out new ones).
Favorite Thing About My Job: In the 13 years since we opened Bad Lizard, we've done a fantastic job of building a reputation known for its quality and attention to detail. We've only achieved this because of the highly skilled staff that we've assembled. So, my favorite thing about my job is enjoying the wonderful family atmosphere here. Everyone from the bottom to the top knows their role and performs at the highest level! With this workplace culture, we've been able to grow and achieve success that most owners can only dream of.

Favorite Thing About My Job: There are several things I love about my job. I get to work with the friends that I grew up with, and I get to help customers make their kitchen dreams come true!

Favorite Thing About My Job: My favorite thing about my job is all of the creativity and the satisfaction of seeing someone’s home transformed.

About Me: I’m married to my wonderful wife, Ashlee. I have two daughters that I am blessed to be able to coach in soccer. I have coached soccer for 17 years, from rec league up to high school. I enjoy playing and watching any sport. Woodworking is also a hobby of mine as well. I’m active in my church, Clarksburg Baptist, that I grew up in.
Favorite Thing About My Job: I enjoy working with Trey everyday, working to ensure customer’s cabinets are properly prepared and templated for their new countertops.
