KITCHEN AND BATH DESIGN TRENDS TO CONSIDER FOR 2022

1. WALK-IN PANTRIES

The National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) recently found in their What Home Buyers Really Want report that a walk-in pantry is the most desirable feature homebuyers look for. Even those who may not cook as often find this a desirable addition to their home.

A walk-in pantry is more than just a space to store food. You can also use it as a “working pantry” to hold large kitchen appliances, like an Instapot, an ice cream maker machine, a standard mixer, etc. You can also use it as a snack selection area for kids, storage for an extra refrigerator, freezer or a beverage cooler, make it a coffee bar station, and if you love to throw parties, store any extra drinkware, utensils and cookware.

2. VENETIAN MARBLE SHOWERS

Venetian Marble shower surrounds are popular choices for bathroom design projects and will continue to be in 2022. These shower surrounds provide a timeless touch to your bathroom that will make it feel and look luxurious! In addition, Venetian Marble is quick to install, easy to clean and almost nearly half the cost of a custom tile and grout installation.

We have recently expanded our product line here at Bad Lizard Granite & Quartz to offer and install this exciting product. If you would like to learn more about Venetian Marble and our installation process, check out our blog, Venetian Marble Shower Surrounds: A Timeless Touch for Your Bathroom.

3. NATURE-INSPIRED ACCENTS

As 2021 comes to a close, color is slowly being incorporated into kitchens and baths. Homeowners are opting for fresh, nature-inspired color palettes in the home. Some of the most common and soon-to-be trending color styles are:

  • Organic, muted greens, resembling sage, eucalyptus and moss
  • Nutty browns, resembling chestnuts and tree bark
  • Ocean blues combining aqua, turquoise and deep blues and grey undertones
  • Rich earth tones with mustard yellows, gold and deep and light browns
  • Lush green resembling a forest, including aloe, clover, olive and citron

With more color comes more contrast, and you can expect to see more wood, whether it be flooring, cabinetry, ceiling beams or all three making a comeback into the kitchen with these fresh color palettes.

4. WORKSTATION SINKS

Workstation sinks help you to maximize space and minimize movement in the kitchen. They incorporate custom accessories that allow you to convert the sink area into a versatile workspace (ranging from food preparation to clean-up and drying). Workstation sink accessories commonly include cutting boards, colanders, drying racks, roll-up drying racks, bottom grids and drains. Best of all, these custom accessories do not take up additional countertop space, which is a dream come true if you are working with limited countertop space or in a smaller kitchen!

Here at Bad Lizard Granite & Quartz, we offer and install these stylish and multifunctional sinks. We currently provide and install two models of Elkay Crosstown workstation sinks. One of the models is a single basin sink, while the other model is an equally-sized double basin sink with a low center divider. Both models offer various features that can help improve the functionality and look of your kitchen. 5. CONVENIENT AND SMART APPLIANCES

As technology advances, so do appliances and fixtures in kitchens and baths.

Microwave drawers are an increasingly popular and easy way to create more countertop space or create convenience, so you’re not breaking your back to bend down to warm your next meal.

Induction cooktops are a simple and easy way to get your pasta water or oil bubbling and hot at lightning speed.

Fancy refrigerators with a built-in tablet allow you to play your favorite tunes, make notes, check inside the fridge without opening it with its handy inside camera and more. Amazon’s Alexa and Google Home can even be connected to these smart appliances.

Touchless faucets are a modern way to add ease, convenience and additional hygienic measures to your space. The 2021 National Kitchen and Bath Association trend report states that motion-control faucets, hands-free, and touch-tap faucets will be more popular than traditional faucets throughout the next few years. Expect to see more and more of all of these savvy appliances in 2022 and beyond.
