Are you looking for discount marble, granite or quartz for your next small project but don’t want to sacrifice quality? Our team at Bad Lizard has the perfect solution for you — remnants.

This countertop trend is a favorite of ours and a great way to obtain a classy look in your home without breaking the bank. Keep reading to learn more about remnants to see if they would be a good fit for your next home project.

When it comes to natural stones like granite and marble, it is essential to understand that no two slabs are identical. Every piece is unique in its nature and appearance. When we purchase our stones, we receive them in bundles. Bundles can range from 6 to 20 slabs consecutively cut from the same block of stone. These bundles allow us to handle projects requiring the use of 2 or more slabs and custom fabricating that project for an extremely elegant look.

When we run out of the stone that comprises that bundle, we’re often left with smaller pieces that aren’t large enough to do full-size kitchen projects. When we order the next bundle of that same material, the differences are noticeable enough that we can’t mix and match the stone from the previous bundle. Therefore, we call these leftover stones remnants.

Our Bad Lizard countertop specialists recommend using remnants for smaller projects like:

  • Bathroom countertops
  • Hearths
  • Mantles
  • Window sills
  • Tabletops

Remnants are perfect for any small project where you are looking to add granite, quartz or marble to enhance your home’s interior or exterior look.

Remnants allow new home construction customers to get granite not only in their kitchens but in the bathrooms throughout their entire homes for prices comparable to laminate or prefabricated stone vanity tops. Ready-made materials are often made in countries like China and are thinner and sub-par in their durability and appearance.

For customers who are remodeling their homes, remnants are an inexpensive alternative that can add value to bathrooms and fireplaces.  Our remnant special pricing often includes extras like sinks and backsplash/side splash pieces at no additional charge.

We also have great options for the do-it-yourselfer. We can custom fabricate vanity tops or other work to their specifications. When finished, they simply pick up their order and install the product.

According to Home Advisor, the first rule in shopping for remnants is to raise your flexibility quotient.  However, this does not refer to being flexible when it comes to the material’s beauty or quality.  Remnants are equal in both beauty and durability to their virgin counterparts.  It is just the fact that you may need to be more flexible when it comes to choosing colors and textures that were originally someone else’s perfect fit and not something you picked from your favorite magazine.

At Bad Lizard, we are happy to say we offer robust remnant selections. Our indoor remnant department allows our customers to browse through our selections and find that unique piece that they desire for smaller projects like bathroom vanities, hearths, mantles, window sills, tabletops and more. Our remnant pricing is very competitive and often allows our customers to bypass the minimum square footage requirements that our competitors and box stores often have.

Our countertop specialists are here to assist you with any questions you may have. Please do not hesitate to give us a call at 304-472-6483 to schedule an appointment to view the impressive selection of granite, quartz and marble remnants that we have in stock.
